How long have you been a self-proclaimed baldie?
 4 years

Did anyone inspire you to cut your hair? (include @ name if possible)
@amberrose

What made you decide to cut your hair?
I cut my hair into a pixie initially because I hated styling my long hair. Everyone told me not to because long hair is a prize in the black community but it never suited me - plus when people tell me not to do something for racist/sexist reasons that makes me want to do it more. The pixie ended up being a lot of upkeep with a relaxer and I wanted to try going natural, so I shaved it off with the intention of growing it back out, but everyone loved bald-headed me so much (and so did I) that I decided to keep it! I actually signed with a top talent agent about 2 weeks after shaving my head.

What reservations/fears did you have about cutting your hair?
I didn’t have many fears, I was just excited!

How did you prepare yourself for your hair cut?
I looked at photos of beautiful bald baddies to hype myself up

What was your initial reaction to seeing yourself with short hair?
I thought “this is me. This is what I’m supposed to look like.”

Did cutting your hair symbolize anything to you?
Freedom. I grew up not being allowed to relax my hair in a time before YouTube tutorials and Shea moisture, so my hair was always a mess and kids bullied me a lot growing up. So I got a relaxer as soon as I got to college and then immediately everyone went natural and then judged me for having straight hair. I always felt like the black community had something to say about my hair, so cutting it off shed the responsibility of pleasing them and let me focus on myself.

Do you plan on ever growing your hair back out?
No. I look terrible with hair lol

Did cutting your hair hurt or help your self-confidence?
Definitely helped!

Do you regret your decision at all?
No!
