How long have you been a self-proclaimed baldie?
March 2017!
Did anyone inspire you to cut your hair? (include @ name if possible)
Definitely! Honestly once I started following this page (@thebaldierevolution) and seeing all these women rock it with different colors, I was hooked!
What made you decide to cut your hair?
At first, it was because my hair was really damaged from years of using heat. After a while, I decided that I didn't want to grow my hair out and cut it shorter. Once I cut it, I never looked back!
What reservations/fears did you have about cutting your hair?
I always thought I had a big head (LOL) and didn't think I could pull it off. I was also worried about the maintenance and how often I'd have to get it cut since my hair grows really fast.
How did you prepare yourself for your hair cut?
I took a deep breath, looked at myself in the mirror and said to myself, "relax, it's just hair".
What was your initial reaction to seeing yourself with short hair?
I was shocked at how good it looked! And here I was overthinking it this whole time. Honestly, I would've cut my hair years ago if I had known I could pull it off.
Did cutting your hair symbolize anything to you?:
Yes! It was almost like a rite of passage in a sense. Around the time I cut my hair, I had begun my self-love journey and reminded myself that my hair doesn't define who I am. It boosted my confidence and reminded me that no matter what I do to my hair, it'll always grow back.
Do you plan on ever growing your hair back out?:
Nah, I love the low-maintenance of short hair, and I can color it knowing that even if it does get damaged, I can cut it off and start again.
Did cutting your hair hurt or help your self-confidence?
Definitely helped! Being that it coincided with my self-love journey, it showed me that I can pull off almost any style I want to do!
Do you regret your decision at all?
Nope! I think everyone should cut their hair off at least once in their life, it's a very freeing experience!
