How long have you been a self-proclaimed baldie?
I’ve been bald since June 25, 2016. Man it’s been a journey.
Did anyone inspire you to cut your hair? (include @ name if possible)
Omg yessss so many people have inspired me. So when I first got the thought to cut my hair I was depressed, and needed something different. Jenneva on Instagram has inspired me I love her milk dud head. You guys have posted her before I can’t think of her IG. You guys of course have inspired. And this one IG page called HERcuts.
What made you decide to cut your hair?
Man oh man let’s see. For one I was depressed so many things was happening me leaving college. I needed something different. Let me tell you, it was so liberating cutting my hair. I was sitting in the barber chair bawling. And the guy was you okay ma. And I was fine. It felt amazing to do something I was so scared of.
What reservations/fears did you have about cutting your hair?
Mhm I didn’t really have many. You know I was nervous that guys wouldn’t like me the same. You know I had one guy tell me I can’t be with a bald head woman because it’s like having sex with another guy because of her hair. I’m thinking to myself like “Ok, you need help.”
How did you prepare yourself for your hair cut?
I mean I didn’t I got up one day and washed my hair blow dried it and went into the barber shop. I had a picture from Pinterest of how I wanted it. I was already natural with a lot of hair so I ready.
What was your initial reaction to seeing yourself with short hair?
I was crying while smiling so I’m not sure what emotion that was. I felt happy I felt like I could finally breathe. PERIODT
Did cutting your hair symbolize anything to you?
Yesss omg yes. It symbolized freedom it symbolized and strong woman are ya know. It was everything for me.
Do you plan on ever growing your hair back out?
NO I DO NOT !!!!!!!
Did cutting your hair hurt or help your self-confidence?
Ohhh babbyyy it helped. Y’all let me tell y’all I’m from Chicago and being bald, everybody love it. And I’m Leo so I love compliments. But seriously it’s helped a lot I didn’t have much as a woman.
Do you regret your decision at all?
Oh no. And it’s made me want to do more of things I’m scared of. Because I may love the outcome I was terrified to cut my hair. And when I did. Man the results were awesome I guess it’s true “everything you want is in the other side of fear”
