How long have you been a self-proclaimed baldie?
I’ve been self proclaimed Baldie for a year now October made a year that I’ve been a bad Baldie.

Did anyone inspire you to cut your hair? (include @ name if possible)
No one in particular inspired me to cut my hair I’ve always loved short hair ever since I was a child. My mother didn’t allow me to cut in high school so as soon I graduated I did a big chop and then shaved it short. I haven’t been back ever since.

What made you decide to cut your hair?
I’ve always had a passion for short hair. I loved it on Jayda Pickett Smith on the move Low Down Dirty Shame. I couldn’t cut it in high school due to my mom so shortly after I graduated I did a big chop and then shaved it.

What reservations/fears did you have about cutting your hair?
My biggest fear was having my hair cut by a male barber and being messed up. I was so picky with my barber I had been to about 5 different ones until I found the person who cut it perfectly. I was also scared and undecided about which short hair cut to get would I do designs, box cut, oval, and color.

How did you prepare yourself for your hair cut?
Well, I hashtag things on twitter and came across the Baldie rev and I looked the inspiration of women cutting their hair and not giving a flying hell what anybody thought. I observed the way certain females cut their hair and even looked at YouTube and decided it’s either today or tomorrow.

What was your initial reaction to seeing yourself with short hair?
My first initial reaction was scared because my hair was all black and the barber had cut me so low. It looked as if I had spots from my hair not being full. Luckily I was prepared I bleached it and played around with the color and loved it.

Did cutting your hair symbolize anything to you?: Cutting my hair symbolized strength and I definitely broke everyone’s stereotype about women having long hair. Everywhere I went and still go I get compliments about my hair and so many girls tell me about how they’d like to be a Baldie too. I also encourage them as a lot of them are scared but I just feel so free and naturally beautiful.

Do you plan on ever growing your hair back out?
I planned on growing my hair out about a month ago but cut it again. I recently just took a photo shoot and I don’t think I’m ever going to go back at least not for a long time. I prefer short hair any day.

Did cutting your hair hurt or help your self-confidence?
Yes cutting my hair really built my self confidence because I stood out so much and the positive vibes and energy I received were amazing. I eventually started to love myself more and see myself more beautiful.

Do you regret your decision at all?
I don’t regret cutting my hair and never would. I love everything about my short hair, I only wish and would like to learn to cut my own hair.
