What made you decide to cut your hair?:
I've wanted to cut my hair for a while, but my mom was against it because I had a lot of hair and I have never cut it in my life. I got my hair straightened for the first time since 2016, in February 2018. It looked AWFUL. My ends were bad, even after getting a trim, and my hair was puffy by the time I exited the hair salon. I was so frustrated so I called my best friend and she started to cut her permed ends off to make me feel better. Next thing I know, we were planning to shave our heads TOGETHER the weekend of my birthday. Not to mention I just so happened to be getting baptized the Sunday (Feb. 25th) after my birthday (Feb. 22nd), so to me the hair cut symbolized a spiritual transition....a rebirth.
What reservations/fears did you have about cutting your hair?
I was not sure if I had the face shape for a bald head and I was scared that my hair would take forever to grow back if I ended up not liking it. I was also scared that my mom would be super pissed with me.
How did you prepare yourself for your hair cut?
3 of my closest friends accompanied me to the hair salon to get it cut. Other than support from my friends, I did not prepare myself at all.
What was your initial reaction to seeing yourself with short hair?
I LOVED IT! I felt like the most beautiful queen in the world! I was honestly star struck...
Did cutting your hair symbolize anything to you?
It symbolized growth and spiritual transitioning.
Do you plan on ever growing your hair back out?
Originally, I was going to shave it once and grow it back out healthily immediately afterwards. But now I love it so much and feel more beautiful as a baldie. Perhaps I will eventually grow it out, but at this point im not sure when.
Did cutting your hair hurt or help your self-confidence?
Helped my self-confidence 110%! I get so many more compliments and so much more attention and I feel like an unstoppable Goddess.
Do you regret your decision at all?
Not one bit!
