How long have you been a self-proclaimed baldie?
4 months
Did anyone inspire you to cut your hair? (include @ name if possible)
No one specifically inspired me to cut my hair but looking on instagram pages like @thecutlife and @darkskinwomen helped me to get an idea of the perfect cut for me.
What made you decide to cut your hair?
Well I've always loved short hair but I really didn't enjoy doing my hair. I also got relaxers which made my hair thin. So one week I ran across a picture of a woman with a fade and instantly fell in love. My mom and close friends definitely supported me all the way with the decision.
What reservations/fears did you have about cutting your hair?
I was afraid of how I would see myself when I looked in the mirror.
How did you prepare yourself for your hair cut?
I looked at pictures all day everyday of women with really short hair which got me more excited about it. Then the week before I went to the barbershop I shaved around my head and kept the middle.
What was your initial reaction to seeing yourself with short hair?
I was smiling so hard my dimples started to hurt. The smile on my face was probably the happiest smile that I can remember ever giving myself when I looked in the mirror.
Did cutting your hair symbolize anything to you?
Cutting my hair symbolized freedom. I felt free from everything that may have been bothering me in my life at the time.
Do you plan on ever growing your hair back out?
One day in the future but for now being a baldie is a lifestyle.
Did cutting your hair hurt or help your self confidence?
Most definitely helped my confidence. I used to be shy growing up so this is probably one of the bravest things i've ever done.
Do you regret your decision at all?
No I love my hair so much it's one of the best decisions i've ever made. There's not a day that goes by that I miss having hair.
