Did anyone inspire you to cut your hair? (include @ name if possible)
@AmberRose back when was just coming out. 3 years ago I then came across model @Ohwawa , and I was like Im doing this. She looks just like me, as far as being dark skinned and confident
What made you decide to cut your hair?
From the start of high school to my freshmen year in college I had a pixie cut, every cut and bob that Rihanna had I would go get for my next style. I was in my Junior year of high school when I told my mom I was thinking about cutting my hair like a "boy" and she just looked at me like I was crazy. Once I seen her response , the boy like cut was out my mind. My sophomore year in college I just wrapped up my fall semester and I kept telling myself and bestfriend I want something different , she suggested that I get color; a different; even weave. I agreed to the weave. I came home, washed my hair and was getting ready to send a text to my hairstyles for an appointment before New Years Eva. Well that changed once I told my mom I wanted to cut my hair lower then what I had , and she didn't think I was serious. I talked to my cousin about her barber , since she had cut her hair as well , after hearing her encouraging me to cut it I set up an appointment with her barber.
What reservations/fears did you have about cutting your hair?
I had the fear that I would look like or be mistaken to be a man, I feared that once I got it cut it would not look right. I also thought that once returned back to my all girl campus that girls would think I was lesbian(since some people categorize the short cut for being a lesbian.) Overall people's opinion.
How did you prepare yourself for your hair cut?
I did not I just did it. I knew if I keep thinking about it or asking family members what they thought I would talk myself out of it.
What was your initial reaction to seeing yourself with short hair?
OMFG(Oh My Freaking Gosh) I need to get to the closes beauty supple store to pick up some lashes , do a full face , and take pictures. I was shocked that I did it and felt so beautiful.
Did cutting your hair symbolize anything to you?
At first my hair cut didn't symbolize anything , but now it symbolizes freedom, growth, and another type of beauty.
Do you plan on ever growing your hair back out?
Yes I do plan on growing my hair out , I just don't know when.
Did cutting your hair hurt or help your self confidence?
cutting my hair definitely boost my self-confidences.
Do you regret your decision at all?
No I don't regret this decision. If I didn't do this I would've regret it.
