How long have you been a self-proclaimed baldie?
For about 3-4 years
Did anyone inspire you to cut your hair? (include @ name if possible)
There were several girls that I followed on Instagram who inspired my hair cut. However, I was also influenced by some celebrities who are well-known for having short hair (Nia Long, Meagan Good, Halle Berry)
What made you decide to cut your hair?
I decided to cut my hair because throughout middle school and high school I didn't do well with taking care of my hair. I relaxed and straightened it so much to the point that it got really damaged, and I didn't have much of a choice but to cut it all off.
What reservations/fears did you have about cutting your hair?
I wasn't really fearful about cutting my hair because all I wanted more than anything was for it to be healthy. Nonetheless, I was anxious to see how my peers would react to my cut because at the time, short hairstyles weren't as common among ladies in my age group.
How did you prepare yourself for your hair cut?
I tried to restrain from doing too much preparation. I didn't tell anybody, I didn't ask for any advice, I just went ahead and did it. I figured if I tried preparing myself to cut it, that would give me too much time to talk myself out of it.
What was your initial reaction to seeing yourself with short hair?
I liked it so much more than I had expected. I knew immediately that this wouldn't be my last time cutting it.
Do you plan on ever growing your hair back out?
As of right now, I can't imagine myself ever wanting longer hair again. But eventually I may seek a new look so it's possible.
Did cutting your hair hurt or help your self confidence?
It definitely helped my self confidence. Like imagine how it feels to know you can look good with or without hair. At this point, you honestly can't tell me anything.
Do you regret your decision at all?
Not at all. Cutting my hair was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
