How long have you been a self-proclaimed baldie?
August 11th makes 3 months
Did anyone inspire you to cut your hair? (include @ name if possible)
my friend's mom @thedol lol
What made you decide to cut your hair?
After bleaching my hair light brown and relaxing it shortly after, my hair began to fall out in handfuls every time I washed it. The entire middle section of my hair had broken off noticibly. I thought that after a while it would stop falling out, but the entire freshman year had gone by and it was still in very bad shape. As soon as I returned home from school I did the big chop.
What reservations/fears did you have about cutting your hair?
I feared that my head was too big to look cute with short hair, but I actually look better in my opinion. I also feared that I wouldn't like my cut, but Happy Hair Salon hooked me up lol
How did you prepare yourself for your hair cut?
I just went in and did it. I didn't want to sit and think anymore than what I had been all year. Whenever I had second thoughts, I just thought about all the girls with long, healthy, beautiful natural hair and compared that to my unhealthy hair that was getting shorter each day and would no longer allow me to do a wash n go.
What was your initial reaction to seeing yourself with short hair?
I was shocked at first, but I automatically loved it. It turned out better than I imagined and my curls were poppin. I couldn't stop smiling once I left the salon because I couldn't believe how well my cut fit my face.
Did cutting your hair symbolize anything to you?
For me it symbolizes growth and a fresh start. I'm at a point where I'm fully dedicated to bettering myself, physically and mentally. People always say women change their hair when they go through things, and it's true. It doesn't have to be a horrible tragedy that makes you change your hair, just a new mindset.
Do you plan on ever growing your hair back out?
Yes!
Did cutting your hair hurt or help your self confidence?
I'll admit that their are some days where I wish I was a long haired beauty, but my day will come. My hair is already almost to bob length! I'm rocking my short hair and I'm proud that people can finally see my face without me hiding behind my hair.
Do you regret your decision at all?
Nope. Not once. My hair was in a horrible condition and I fixed it. I'm proud of myself for not allowing my insecurities to be the cause of me still walking around with severely damaged hair.
