How long have you been a self-proclaimed baldie?
9 years (off and mostly on)

What made you decide to cut your hair?
I had locs for 10 years and was ready for a change.

What reservations/fears did you have about cutting your hair?
I was worried I’d look like my brother and also that it wouldn’t look great due to my lack of edges (hormonal).

How did you prepare yourself for your hair cut?
I cut my locs off 1 week after I got married. (Got ‘me!) I did it while I was off from work so I could get used to seeing myself with no hair.

What was your initial reaction to seeing yourself with short hair?:
I didn’t know my hair was curly! I hadn’t worn it completely natural since I was 7 years old.

Did cutting your hair symbolize anything to you?:
It didn’t then but now I love the statement it makes for women about being beautiful without hair.

Do you plan on ever growing your hair back out?:
I’ve tried multiple times. I even got to 2 years once and then CHOP! It’s become a joke. Everyone knows my announcements about growing it out are fake. I usually can’t make it past 6 weeks.

Did cutting your hair hurt or help your self-confidence?
Helped! I actually feel more feminine. I think my face is prettier without hair. That feeling after a fresh cut and wash is irreplaceable.

Do you regret your decision at all?
Nope. I wish I was bold enough to do it sooner.
