How long have you been a self-proclaimed baldie?
I’ve been a baldie for roughly 2 years with a break of about 7 months in between.

What made you decide to cut your hair?
I have always been the person who did my hair myself. Whatever hairstyle I wanted- braids, weave, locs, you name it-I’d do it myself. I cut my hair when I realized just how much I depended on my hair to feel a certain way, to feel good about myself. Being a baldie makes me feel on top of the world because my hair is in its most natural state(minus the dye lol) and I couldn’t feel more beautiful.

What reservations/fears did you have about cutting your hair?
My biggest fear was that my head would be lumpy and make me feel more self-conscious.

How did you prepare yourself for your hair cut?
I literally stalked people on Instagram with short cuts as well as barbers’ accounts to make sure I had a wide range of options, whether it was color, cut, design, etc.

What was your initial reaction to seeing yourself with short hair?
I was pleasantly surprised. I’m pretty sure for the first few hours all I did was touch my head lol

Did cutting your hair symbolize anything to you?
Recognizing my inner beauty

Do you plan on ever growing your hair back out?
I’ve thought about it but I don’t plan on doing it any time soon. I’m having too much fun dying my hair and not having to worry about breakage/ damage/ hands in my hair

Did cutting your hair hurt or help your self-confidence?
Oh it definitely helped, 100%

Do you regret your decision at all?
Nope!
