What made you decide to cut your hair?
I always wanted to buzz my head as a kid, it always seemed cool to me. As I aged, I saw how harsh societies beauty standards were and that kinda made me want to do it even more. I don't give a fuck what people think of it, I get dirty looks constantly, the occasional "is that a boy or a girl" comments... All in all, I couldn't be prouder of my decision to shave my head.
What reservations/fears did you have about cutting your hair?
None. Fuck what asswipes think. Hair isn't everything nor is it important to me.
How did you prepare yourself for your hair cut?
I didn't really prepare myself much. I just bought a pair of clippers from Sally's and buzzed it all off one day.
What was your initial reaction to seeing yourself with short hair?
Mesmerization. I was wonderstruck.
Did cutting your hair symbolize anything to you?
Freedom. Bravery.
Do you plan on ever growing your hair back out?
maybe a few more inches but I want to keep it short for a very long time
Did cutting your hair hurt or help your self confidence?
Definitely boosted my confidence. I was extremely insecure and never really felt comfortable with longer hair. I would experiment with it, make it long... Cut it and make it shorter... but nothing really seemed to truly fit or become me until I actually shaved my head.
Do you regret your decision at all?
Never. It changed me in all the best ways possible.
